Hanson’s statement against Donald Trump being prepared and his ability to run a country is correct, from a political level. Donald Trump, rather has been running the country well like a company, he has been prepared to speak directly and assertively with other world leaders, knowing what is best for our nations economy and being an overall effective leader while many are trying to go against him and impeach him from office.

Another medium of adversity Trump is facing is that of the deep state, that is made up of “the culture of permanent and Senior employees of the federal and state governments& Sierra ploys of the federal governments.” (179) This is the group of people that have been in the white house and in a position of political power for a long time. Many, for example, like Supreme Court judges hold terms for life, so them and their political opinions remain in office for a very long time. This causes difficulties when opposing political parties come in contact throughout politics. Is very hard to get things done and it is not very effective. As Hanson states the deep house has become “politically progressive,” (179) many of theses people Trump wanted to eliminate in order to clean the White House and rid it of these politically progressive members.

Trump’s involvement with media has always been “headliner news” as his statements and stances on certain political and social issues have always been of interest to the media. In this new aged technological political campaigning era that we are in, everything that the President does is broadcasted to the general public, either helping or hurting their case. The 2016 election was the first election where social media usage was a factor. Trump basically tweets anything that is on his mind, and this has both hurt and helped him in gaining traction for the Presidency. “All press is good press.” is a quote that Donald Trump has lived by as his name and how recognizable he is, has become has given him a spotlight to shine under for all of America and the World to watch. (200) While he does get the attention that he is looking for, Trump is under constant scrutiny and is always being torn up by the news outlets. This is an area that Trump is incompetent in, as there are many cases where his tweets, or his public demeanor have come back to hurt him.

Regardless of what Trump says there are news outlets that will have a stance on his opinion and deliver it to the people watching their news outlet. Political basis of the news outlets have also kept people voting for the same parties and there has not been much change in swing voters. This is due to confirmation basis, meaning that people only want to hear their parties side of the story and are unwilling to be convinced otherwise. This is hurting out country as people do not want to hear the other parties point of view, rather they want to hear what they already know and believe. (202)

Overall, Trump has been learning while he is in office, but his showings of changing through his actions over social media and news outlets show the American people that he is who he is and will not change. As far as our country goes, he has improved our economy to being the best it ever has and his effectiveness still holds strong as he is being faced with acts of impeachment.

Trump is one of the first presidents that has openly shown his thoughts on social media for the world to see. This did help him in the elections because it was free advertising, yet I found that if you look back at so many of his posts that can be summarized as sexist, racist, and endorsing a rape culture in America. We as a country have normalized this behavior from the person that is supposed to be leading us and representing us across the world. We chose someone who does not know how to save face and pick up and clean up after themselves. He continually say outrageous things and has been continually accused of rape, sexual assault, and racist comments. As a society in America we have shown that this is okay solely by having him become President of our country. I find it very interesting that everyone has slowly become okay with him as his approval ratings have actually increased since he was put in office. He might have great economic policies and has helped the country economically, but his overall demeanor is showing young adults that if you act like he does then you can get anything you want, and do we really want more people like Trump directing our country.  

The film Dark Days followed around the lives of people living underground in the subway system of NYC. These people are considered homeless and many do not have jobs. I find it interesting how this group of people have created their own societal structure outside of the societal structure in the city above them. They completely disregard that they are no longer a part of the society above ground and many do not want to go outside of the tunnels. There are still a few that want to get out of this new system, and they are trying to dig themselves out. Yet, some of them are fully content with the life they are living and say they have no desire to live above ground because they do not want to conform to the society pressures that the societies above ground push onto you. 

The movie, ‘Apollo 11’ replicated a very historical time period within American history. Under the presidential reign of Richard Nixon, landing on the moon was an important step forward for mankind. Not only was landing on the moon a significant milestone but being able to launch a spaceship that far implied militaristic strengths as well. Given the time period, communism became a threat to America and its allies. In an attempt to fight back, America proved its technological strengths through the Apollo 11 mission. Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin are responsible for successfully completing this feat.

At first, I was quite confused as to why this movie is on the syllabus when we’re talking about the mating and dating market and the evolution of it in history. This movie is about how a teenage girl gets exposed to an evil spirit and then possessed. She begins to do things like levitating and speaking in unknown languages. Her mother gets very worried and tries to find assistance by seeking two priests. She gets tested by medical professions and the data shows that there is nothing wrong with her, when there clearly is. Her evilness gets more clear as it trends to get worse and the suggestion of an exorcism to remove the evil spirits inside of her comes into play. They try the exorcism and one priest who tried to provide assistance dies and the other believes he is unable to help. Then, the priest that backed out comes back to take his life for the teenager, freeing her from the evil spirits. But what does this have to do with the sexual market in America? The daughter in this movie doesn’t have a father figure (her parents are divorced) and maybe that’s the message being sent with the whole idea of the exorcism? Maybe she was possessed for her lack of a father figure in her life? Or, the reason for her being possessed is her figurative response to her parents divorce? Or it may have to do with the difficulty of a single-parent? How does this movie relate to the sexual market?
