Pornstars having relationships, is it okay and is it possible?

I wanted to talk about pornstars in relationships in their lives outside of their jobs. Is it possible for someone whose occupation is having and filming sex to be in love with someone? I feel like most conservative people will say no and that it is unethical. I am not the one to judge because it isn’t my life, but if it is possible to love when you are in the porn industry then why not. I think sex would be ruined and it wouldn’t be as sentimental.

How would a lady who has meaningless sex for money essentially be able to have compassionate sex with their partner? On the other side how could the partner who may not be in the porn industry not be jealous or fed up with their loved one having sex with several other people? I feel as if a pornstar is in a relationship it constitutes everything that a relationship is not supposed to be, which is to not commit adultery, but at the end of the day these are people and they can decide what they want with their lives. It also raises the question what is a relationship and can you be in an open relationship. Sure, they would receive a lot of backlash being in a relationship, but who is to say they cannot love someone. It is tough to talk about it when we aren’t in their shoes, but it is an interesting topic.

Pop Music

I wanted to touch on the topic we discussed in class the other day about pop music. I feel like many people especially in current today are not fully understanding pop music. This type of music is generational, so there are older generations right now that don’t get the point of it and fall into the generalization that it is stupid, dumb, and bad music. I get why this happens because they are not used to this form of music and many people aren’t great with change, but the music industry is constantly evolving just like many other things as time progresses. So, I foresee in thirty-five years when my generation, which is Generation Z, are the mid-aged adults and their offspring are the youngest generation then pop music will finally be understood. It is important for this music to be understood and that goes for any music because there are messages and lessons to learn from music, and most importantly it is a form of art. The significance of art is essential to human life because it keeps us grounded, preserves our history, and gives us a purpose. Pop music has created such a huge industry; worth hundreds millions of dollars. There is no reason to exile pop music and in fact I would hope the older generations would see that there are benefits to it. It certainly wouldn’t be doing well if it wasn’t producing this much money. Music has therapeutic benefits and is a source of entertainment, but more importantly it can make people happy which is the most overlooked thing about pop music.

ERA #7: The Case for Trump Chapter 4

Chapter four discusses the reasons why Donald Trump gained power and held office. Hanson describes the main reasons as to why Trump became president and specifically how the Democratic party had a role in doing so. The biggest teller of why Trump won the 2016 Election was due to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Clinton focused less on her goals and views and rather tried everything she could to belittle Trump and ruin his campaign. For example, in 2016, Clinton spent 250 million dollars to negatively advertise against Trump. She wanted to expose Trump in any way possible such as making accusations that he is a sexual predator and a neo-fascist. This deterred her from being able to focus on her own campaign. This is something that Barrack Obama, who won the 2008 Election against John McCain, did not fall for. Obama paid little attention to his opponent, McCain. Obama was great at being able to pertain to the values of the majority of America. He stayed as a central Democrat, but once elected he strayed into the far left group of Democrats. Hanson focuses on how Hillary failed to brand and run her campaign. I think he is right and she was more concerned on a person who had zero political experience rather than herself. It is possible that she had a lack of confidence and was afraid of Trump’s capabilities and power. It could be true if she followed Obama’s approach to his campaign that she would have won the election.

ERA #6: Cheap Sex Chapter 4

This chapter is about the lowbrow forms of sex that we don’t acknowledge as much; masturbation and pornography. The chapter focused on the effects of pornography on people’s views and relationships. Pornography can create fantasies for people and ones that they want to pursue. It can also create these images and virtual realties that those who watch believe and seek for, but actually most of the realties are unrealistic. So, there is a common problem of having unsatisfied sex due to pornography because they don’t experience the presumptive realties that they were hoping for. Some people can become so attached to pornography and in doing so it deters them from having actual, physical and intimate relationships with others. Pornography for some fits their sexual desires and they feel content watching pornography instead, and with this comes masturbation which if not most of the time occurs when people watch pornography.

Masturbation is a healthy and good way to know your body and to relax. Pornography can be good for masturbation too as it can enhance and improve masturbation, but I think there is a point where there is too much pornography. It is stopping or cutting down your viewing before pornography affects your views of sex negatively and that differentiates for everyone. Pornography is big in the sex industry as it brings in a good amount of money every year. It should remain in society as seen negative or ‘forbidden,’ but given awareness that many people watch it and that it contains false realties for the most part.

Lifeboat Reflection

I understand the reasoning of the two philosophy graduate students and that we should help others in need despite not owing anything to them. I agree with this, but there is a certain extent when you have to consider your own wellbeing and see if it is being negatively affected by helping someone in need. So, if helping someone does not outweigh the possible negative impact on your wellbeing then it is most likely not worth it. I like the example, of the lifeboat that Garrett Hardin proposes because it argues possible problems that can occur when helping others. I like his outlook on helping people in need. In my eyes, you would rather save a majority of the people than suffer losing everybody.
