I found this documentary to be very moving. I understood that being an immigrant was not an easy process but I was not aware of these extremes people are often faced with. The fact they risk their lives multiple times throughout this process is so unfortunate. There is no excuse for the gang targeting these immigrants to harm these people, regardless of their own hardships they face. It is also disturbing that these people often can’t turn to the police because they can possibly be corrupt themselves. It seems that the only options these immigrants have is face an inevitable death or fight to make it over the border. The second option is obviously a better one, but a negative conception of immigrants in America is already starting some of them at a disadvantage.
One positive to take from this documentary is the strength these immigrants will gain from these experiences. After going through these hardships immigrants will likely be willing to do almost anything to succeed in their new lives. This willingness to do anything it takes will likely benefit America’s labor force because these immigrants will be ok with working more low wage jobs.

I agree with you on the fact that these immigrants have shown tremendous strengths that can benefit the workforce. It is amazing what so many have gone through to get to this country, and as a society we never seem to take that into account. We are so quick to kick them out of the country and we don’t realize that they risked their lives so many times to get here. Before we deport them I think we should take into account the hardships that drove them to illegally enter, because they definitely didn’t just go through all that pain for the sake of doing so.
I agree that this documentary is very moving. When immigrants’ best shot to travel and get in to the United States is to do it illegally, we know something is wrong. These immigrants go through some extreme situations and it is heartbreaking. But according to Borjas, immigrants affect the economy severely and the negatives from it outweigh the positives greatly. It leads us to a strong debate. But after watching the documentary, they make it clear that we all should argue for the immigrants because the film makes us empathize with them and feel those extreme situations. Most of it is just horrifically heartbreaking. Is it a necessity to serve justice to these people if it could possibly make our economy and nation worse? Where should we draw the line? Most of these immigrants are risking their lives for us, is it our job to keep them safe? What needs to be changed?
I agree that the documentary was very eye-opening in that it showed the tremendous amount of strength and effort it takes to immigrate into America. The various challenges the immigrant face when coming to America are shown throughout the documentary and help to show how immigration takes a lot of sacrifice. Even when these immigrants arrive in the U.S they still experience struggles from the misinformed notions that many have about immigrants in the U.S. Changing the way Americans view immigrants is something that I think needs to happen in order for people to actually understand the things they had to go through to get here and in order for people to realize there are life changing consequences to how Americans view immigrants.
