I found this documentary to be extremely moving. It displayed in detail the dangers that many people face when attempting to better their lives by crossing the border in Mexico to the United States. These people often suffer from intense poverty which causes them to flee their own country in search of a better life. On the way, they suffer immense amounts of trauma due to gangs, police, and immigration officers. It was devastating to see the ways that individuals have suffered in the film. Before watching this movie, I was aware of the conditions in Mexico for immigrants considering that I have gone on two mission trips to Guatemala and experienced their stories firsthand. I was incredibly moved when talking to Guatemalans and I was similarly moved when watching this movie. As someone who cares deeply about people and individuals, I feel that the challenges that they are forced to face as a result of attempting to improve their position in life is entirely unjust. While I am aware that economically mass immigration may not be beneficial, I feel that these people deserve a chance at a better life. Something must be done to change the current situation.

You are right. De Nadie was my first exposure to this reality and it is heartbreaking. These people are being treated like objects. It reminds me of what Professor Riley spoke about in class, “Do What Thou Wilt.” The gangs are acting in this manner and they have no moral values of others. So, yes something must be done!
I agree that this documentary was extremely moving as it highlights the treacherous dangers the people must go through. They suffer such extreme poverty that this journey is worth it to them to provide themselves a better life. Although I was aware of the intense poverty and these dangers previous ti watching, I find it sheds extreme light on the matter and gave me a wider perspective on these terrible issues many must face.
Yes I agree, the film was very difficult to watch and extremely moving. But, I’m not really sure how to feel after reading Borjas and understanding that immigrants don’t benefit the economy sufficiently. Watching and reading both sides of the argument make it really difficult and because of that, I think something must be done too.
I completely agree in that I also found the documentary very moving. I have never been exposed to conditions like this so I was in awe during some of the scenes of this film. The social justice aspect that you bring up at the end is very inspirational, and I completely agree that something must be done now to change the horrible conditions that people are facing every day.
