some data on views of race relations and immigration

Lots to potentially talk about here, but the thing that jumps out with respect to the topic we’re currently investigating in class is the fact that the majority of minority respondents do not see it as “racist” for white Americans to be concerned about limiting immigration in order to preserve the present racial demography of the country, while more than 90% of left-leaning whites with high levels of formal education believe it is racist to hold that position.  In other words, culturally elite whites are much more likely than minorities to classify some perspectives on the immigration debate as simply beyond the pale by labeling them “racist.”
